Nhằm tạo khí thế vui tươi phấn khởi thi đua nước rút hoàn thành chỉ tiêu kế hoạch năm 2014; lập thành tích kỷ niệm 60 năm Ngày truyền thống ngành Điện cách mạng Việt Nam (21/12/1954-21/12/2014) và là dịp để các đại biểu tham dự Hội nghị Giám Đốc các Điện lực/Chi nhánh điện cao thế và Công nghệ thông tin lần thứ V giao lưu học hỏi, Tổng công ty Điện lực Miền Nam tổ chức Giao lưu thể thao 02 môn Quần vợt và Cờ tướng.

Đây là giải Cờ tướng đầu tiên và mang đầy ý nghĩa với sự góp mặt cùa 17 kỳ thủ đến từ 26 đơn vị thành viên. Ban tổ chức hy vọng rằng các đấu thủ thể hiện hết mình sẽ mang lại thành công cho giải; tạo tiền đề cho các giải tiếp theo.

Các VĐV thi đấu theo hệ Thụy Sĩ 05 ván có dùng đồng hồ, thời gian hoàn thành ván đấu cho mỗi kỳ thủ là 15 phút (30 phút cho cả 2 bên), bên nào hết giờ trước bị xử thua ván đấu. Áp dụng Luật thi đấu Cờ tướng hiện hành.

Giải được tổ chức tại Resort Sea Links - Mũi Né - Tp Phan Thiết.
